Montsevelier: Absalon full gas into the battle with Giger

6. July 2014

BMC Racing Cup - Delemont / Montsevelier

After four weeks without competition, Julien Absalon returns to racing on Sunday at the BMC Racing Cup in Montsevelier. Martin Fanger and Reto Indergand are coming straight out of their training at high altitude and also want to join the fight for podium positions in the Jura.

The stitched wound on Julien Absalon's left knee has healed well. Therefore nothing stands in the way of fighting out a duel with European championships' runner-up Fabian Giger on Sunday in Montsevelier. Of course, record world cup winner Absalon will not really be in top shape when he will toe the line in the Swiss Jura. But as soon as there is a starting number mounted on the handlebars of his bike, ambition will prompt the Frenchman to give it all.

„This race will be a tune-up to the French championships, but whenever I take part in a competition, I will always try to win it. I always go full gas," says Absalon. In Montsevelier this will mean to keep his tough Swiss rival Fabian Giger at bay, like Absalon succeeded in doing at the European championships.

Martin Fanger and Reto Indergand have spent the last few weeks in the Engadine. After having been sixth in Graenichen, this time Indergand intends to get a podium position in Montsevelier. At the same time, he and Fabian Giger will fight for the overall lead in the Cup.

Just like his teammates, Martin Fanger is already focussed on the Swiss championships, which will take place in two weeks time. „The Swiss championships are my main goal, but I have had very positive experiences with coming straight back from training at altitude. Probably I won't be very fast right at the start and will have to trudge through the early part of the race", reckons Fanger. But as soon as the altitude turbo kicks in, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
