Tour of Qatar Prologue: Quinziato Pleased With Performance

6. February 2011

Cultural Village, Qatar

Manuel Quinziato was 11 seconds off the winning time at Sunday's Tour of Qatar prologue, clocking a team-best 17th place in his first outing with the BMC Racing Team.

Lelangue: 'He Gave Everything'

Quinziato said he was satisfied with his effort on the technical, 2.5-kilometer course. "It was so short, it was suited much more to sprinters than me," he said. "And I didn't want to risk too much on a tricky parcours. I think my shape is good for my first race." BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue called his performance "impressive." "Manuel's not a specialist. It proves he gave everything," Lelangue said. "I'm also happy about the rides of John Murphy (25th, at 13 seconds) and Greg Van Avermaet (43rd, at 15 seconds)." Lars Boom (Rabobank) took the win.
