Tour of Austria, Stage 3: Barton Impresses

6. July 2010

Lienz, Austria

While Florian Stalder and Chris Butler were leading the BMC Racing Team Tuesday at the Tour of Austria, Chris Barton was also doing his best to impress.

Stalder Now 23rd Overall
Barton climbed admirably on a 134-kilometer stage that included three mountain passes. "I couldn't accelerate with the bunch at the bottom of the (last) climb, but I just kept a steady pace and eventually almost made it to the front group," Barton said. Leonardo Bertagnolli (Androni Giocattoli) won the stage as Riccardo Ricco (Ceramica Flaminia) kept the overall lead. Stalder was 11th, Butler 35th and Barton 42nd. Wednesday's stage will feature the climb of the Grossglockner, Austria's steepest Alpine slope.
