Romandie, Stage 1: Impressive Showing

27. April 2011

Leysin, Switzerland

Cadel Evans and Steve Morabito climbed into the top 10 overall Wednesday at the Tour de Romandie after the BMC Racing Team led the chase of a four-man breakaway.

Rainy Stage

Evans is seventh and Morabito eighth behind new leader Pavel Brutt (Katusha), who soloed to win the stage. Morabito said he rode with emotion as the BMC Racing Team chased in the rain up the final two climbs. "I know the roads well, since I was born not far from here," he said. " I did some reconnaissance of this stage last month and two days ago, we looked at it again with Cadel. On the last climb, we tried to split things. It was a pity we didn't catch the break."
