Giro d’Italia, 5th stage: Evans well protected

13. May 2010

Nove Ligure, Italy

The main focus of the BMC Racing Team during the fifth stage of the Giro d’Italia on Thursday from Novara to Nove Ligure was to get Cadel Evans across the finish line without any incidents.

Stage completed without any problems

“The team worked well. There were no crashes and no major technical problems,” said BMC Racing team manager John Lelangue when describing the 168-km stage. Tomorrow promises to be similar to today. “However, two very important days follow on Saturday and Sunday,” the Belgian offered, looking ahead. Frenchman Jerome Pineau (Quickstep), who managed to beat out two other lead riders, claimed victory for the day.
