Critérium du Dauphiné, Stage 4: Pinotti Ninth

5. June 2013

BMC Racing Team's Marco Pinotti powered his BMC timemachine TM01 to a ninth-place finish in Wednesday's individual time trial at the Critérium du Dauphiné.

Nerz Looks Ahead
Pinotti was fifth at the first intermediate time check of the 32.5-kilometer time trial on the way to placing 1:38 behind stage winner Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-Quick Step). A top 10 finish was the five-time Italian national time trial champion's goal, he said. "I'm not the guy with super high power, but I can pace myself on these types of courses, so that's what I tried to do," Pinotti said. "My numbers in training were good, so I am confident that I will be up front in the last few days." Dominik Nerz, who remains the BMC Racing Team's best-placed rider overall, said he was not thrilled with a pancake-flat course with few corners. But after finishing 34th, 3:00 back, Nerz is looking forward to the mountainous stages that lie ahead. "I am not a specialist in the time trial, but I am always trying to get better," Nerz said. "I think my stages are coming up so maybe I can move up in the general classification." Nerz is now 22nd (2:13) and teammate Ivan Santaromita is 23rd (2:28). Rohan Dennis (Garmin-Sharp) displaced David Veilleux (Team Europcar) as the race leader.
