BMC Racing Team In GP d'Isbergues Sunday

16. September 2011

Isbergues, France

Sunday's GP d'Isbergues will serve as a final tune-up for many riders heading to the UCI world road championships, including Greg Van Avermaet of the BMC Racing Team.

Wind Can Be A Factor

Fifth at this race in 2009, Van Avermaet said a small group going to the finish would be the perfect scenario for him. "There are some little climbs in the last 50 kilometers and the wind is also an important factor," he said. "I want to know how my legs are recovered from the Vuelta a España and I want to perform well before the worlds." BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said the 204 km course – and the possibility of adverse weather – make it a tough race. "It's in an open area so crosswinds are always a concern, as well as the little climbs because you always need to be in front," Baldato said.
