Vattenfall: Kristoff/Schär In Front Group

21. agosto 2011

Hamburg, Germany

Alexander Kristoff of the BMC Racing Team made the decisive group in Sunday's Vattenfall Cyclassics but the Norwegian national champion was unable to crack the top 10 in the final sprint.

Kristoff Finishes 14th
Kristoff and teammate Michael Schär were among the fewer than three dozen riders who got a gap cresting the final climb with less than 15 kilometers to go. "The situation was perfect," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said. "Michi, like always, was the best teammate. He was always present in the front and helped Kristoff." Kristoff said he found himself too far back as the final sprint began. "I felt good but failed at the end," Kristoff said. "I tried to find a way to the front, but got boxed in. It's really disappointing because I felt good during the race but at the end I had nothing." Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky Pro Cycling) took the win as Kristoff finished 14th.
