Tour of the Basque Country, Stage 2: Moinard's Breakaway

Amaël Moinard represented the BMC Racing Team in a four-man breakaway Tuesday at the Tour of the Basque Country. But the group's six-minute lead evaporated and they were caught 32 kilometers from the finish.

Four Escaped Early
"I felt very good today so I wanted to get in the break," Moinard said. "Nobody in my group was dangerous on the GC so I thought we had a good chance to survive." But the chasing efforts of Garmin-Cérvelo rapidly closed the gap and Vasili Kirkyienka (Movistar) soloed to the win ahead of a small group. Andreas Klöden (Team Radioshack) is the new race leader. "I decided to take it easy in the last 10 km to try again tomorrow," Moinard said.
