Tour de Romandie, Stage 2: Nerz Fifth

25. aprile 2013

In the shadow of the BMC Switzerland headquarters and the new Velodrome Suisse, Dominik Nerz finished fifth for the BMC Racing Team Thursday at the Tour de Romandie.

Burghardt In The Breakaway
Nerz, who registered his best finish of the season – was led through the final corner by teammate Steve Morabito. But Ramunas Navardauskas (Garmin-Sharp) charged through in the last 200 meters to take the win ahead of Enrico Gasparotto (Astana Pro Team) and Gianni Meersman (Omega Pharma-Quick Step). Morabito said everyone was motivated for the win. "On the climb, we tried to make the group smaller with Mathias Frank attacking one kilometer from the top," he said. "The most important thing for me was to do a good lead out for Dominik so he could do a good sprint." Earlier, Marcus Burghardt starred for the BMC Racing Team, initiating a three-man breakaway in the first 30 kilometers that was only caught within the final 25 km of the 190.3-km race. "My motivation was to win the stage," Burghardt said. Chris Froome (Sky Procycling) kept the overall lead.
