Tour de France, Stage 19: Challenging For Moinard

19. luglio 2013

BMC Racing Team's Amaël Moinard finished 15th at the Tour de France Friday after he and teammates Marcus Burghardt and Steve Morabito rode for a time as part of a group chasing the stage win.

Tough Final Climb
The trio from the BMC Racing Team was part of a group of more than two dozen riders who eventually caught an early breakaway of Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp) and Pierre Rolland (Team Europcar). Moinard said he couldn't keep pace on the Col de la Croix Fry, the final climb of the 204.5-kilometer race that finished in pouring rain. "I had no strength anymore," he said. "I had cramps everywhere, I couldn't stand up on my bike and I had no energy. So I'm disappointed because I was in the front." Rui Costa (Movistar Team) soloed to the stage win 48 seconds ahead of Andreas Klöden (RadioShack Leopard). Behind him, Chris Froome (Sky Procycling) kept the overall lead with two days to go.
