Karsten Kroon launched the successful attack of many by the BMC Racing Team Saturday at Paris-Nice. His reward was 120 kilometers of riding through strong winds and rain before being caught with 13 km to go.

Two-Man Breakaway
"I felt good today. I was even attacking 10 meters before kilometer zero," Kroon said. "At about kilometer 80, I did a little attack at a roundabout and was gone, but it was a bit of a shame only one guy joined me." Kroon and Eric Barthou (Bretagne-Schuller) built a nearly seven-minute lead before the Dutchman ventured on alone with 30 km to go. Rémy Di Gregorio (Astana) soloed to win the stage and Tony Martin (HTC-Highroad) keep the lead. BMC Racing Team's Yannick Eijssen abandoned due to illness.
