Steve Morabito attacked inside the last kilometer Friday at the Giro del Trentino, but the BMC Racing Team's rider bid for a podium spot came up short.

Strong Team Support

Riding in a group containing all the contenders, Morabito tried to gain the one second needed to move into third place overall. "I tried to fight to get on the podium, but it wasn't possible," he said. "Overall, I'm pleased. After the issues with my back at Paris-Nice, I stayed focused and spent a lot of time training hard in the Alps." Roman Kreuziger (Astana) took the stage from a three-man breakaway while Michele Scarponi (Lampre-ISD) won the overall. Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said the team did a great job of putting its entire support behind Morabito throughout the 161-kilometer race.
