BMC Has Another Swiss Champion

16. luglio 2009

Seven years after his triumph on the road, Alexandre Moos can once again pull on a Swiss champion’s jersey. The oldest Swiss cycling pro overcame the strong national competition on the mountain bike for the first time. In the marathon.

The title of Swiss Marathon Champion underlines the good form that Alexandre Moos already showed in June. At the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and the Swiss road championship, a pollen allergy prevented him achieving his best performance, “but in Küblis I had a perfect day,” he says about his first major triumph on a mountain bike. Over the next few days a decision will be made about whether the Swiss champion will contest the World Championship in Graz on August 23 or the Grand Raid in canton Valais, one of the highlights of cycle sport, which is being held on the same weekend.

Confirmation for BMC

Alexandre Moos is happy in the BMC Racing Team, for which he has ridden cyclo-cross in the winter and the road and mountain bike season in parallel in the summer over the last few years. And his career is set to continue despite his advanced age. “If you look at it in that light, the marathon title came at exactly the right time,” says Moos. “It is also a confirmation of the good work done by the engineers at BMC and my commitment to mountain biking.” However, when the Tour de France visits canton Valais from Sunday to Tuesday, he will be on the road again with racing bikes. On the rest day on Monday he will appear as a guest of Télévision Suisse Romande, and on Tuesday he will look behind the scenes of the tour village with 20 children.
