Founded in 2009 the BMC Racing Team was mainly intended to be a platform for young talented riders from Switzerland and the US. With an UCI Continental Pro licence the team was able to receive wild cards from medium-sized stage and one day races. Only three years later the BMC Racing Team is amongst the strongest teams in the UCI Pro Tour having a world class rooster for both major stage races as well as the classics. Already in 2010 Cadel Evans wore the yellow jersey at the Tour de France but failed to keep it on the way to Paris. Only one year later Evans celebrated his first victory at the Tour after three weeks of focused racing surrounded by a team that grew beyond its possibilites. Beside the outstanding teamwork, an exceptional environment and a strong will to win the team based its major sucess on worldclass material from the Swiss bicycle manufacturer BMC.
