Double win at German classic "BiketheRock"

18. May 2014

BiketheRock - Heubach, Germany

In the run-up to the world cup races in Nove Mesto and Albstadt, Julien Absalon and Moritz Milatz finished their test race at the "BiketheRock" festival in Heubach (Germany) with a double win. Although the HC class race featured fierce competition, Absalon was in the driver's seat.

Right from the start, the Heubach course confronts the racers with a steep 2.5 kilometer climb with only a short flat section in between. "Climbing up this mountain seven times, that's really tough", admitted Absalon after his second victory at the German classic. On the other hand, he is mad about the second half of the course: "I really love the downhill."

This Sunday, the Frenchman was in a class of his own. During the first two laps he fought a duel with talented Swiss climber Fabian Giger before he launched his attack.

"Everything went according to plan and I think it was a very good preparation for Nove Mesto and Albstadt. On top of this it has been great fun again to compete in this nice atmosphere and in front of such crowds of people", said Absalon. Then he raised his special BiketheRock trophy which is made of solid rock, and turned to a group of autograph hunters.

Moritz Milatz finished his twelfth BiketheRock in second place. "Everything just worked out exactly as I had planned. I didn't exceed my energy reserves, but I wanted to step it up a notch in the final phase," said Milatz.

He clocked fastest time on the final two laps and thus managed to win the fight for second place against Fabian Giger, Spanish rider José Hermida and Frenchman Stephane Tempier.
