Tour of Qatar, Stage 3: Burghardt Moves Up

9. February 2011

Mesaieed, Qatar

Marcus Burghardt of the BMC Racing Team made the front group Wednesday on another windy day at the Tour of Qatar to climb into the top 10 overall.

Good Teamwork

With two stages left, Burghardt is ninth, 42 seconds off the lead of Heinrich Haussler (Garmin-Cervelo), who won for the second straight day. "In the beginning I had problems and was in the third group," Burghardt said. "But I have to thank my teammates, who did a great job to close the gap to the front group." BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said Alexander Kristoff also helped by being in an early breakaway of five that was eventually caught by Burghardt's group.
