Giro d'Italia, Stage 12: Sprint Interrupted

19. May 2011

Ravenna, Italy

The BMC Racing Team's plan to contest Thursday's sprint finish at the Giro d'Italia was disrupted by a crash just outside the final kilometer.

No One Hurt
A narrow passage forced one rider to go wide into a tight turn, forcing many riders to hit their brakes. BMC Racing Team's Danilo Wyss was one rider caught in the pile-up, in which no one was hurt. Mark Cavendish (HTC-Highroad) won the sprint and Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Sungard) retained the lead. BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said the next three stages will favor climbers Mathias Frank and Johann Tschopp.
