BMC Racing Team’s leader Taylor Phinney punctured in the end of Eneco Tour Stage 3, Wednesday, but he managed to finish in time.
Did Not Lose Time
It’s been a good day for the BMC Racing Team in the 188-kilometers race before team’s leader had puncture with 5 kilometres to go, explains Sport Director assistant Max Sciandri,,« Everything was working really well, then Taylor punctured at the worst moment, hopefully Martin (Kohler) gave him a wheel, and Quinziato and Burghardt stopped to put him back so he managed to enter in the group and not to lose time. » After the peloton caught the 4 men breakaway of the day, Theo Bos (Rabobank Cycling Team) won the stage from a massive sprint and Jens Keukeleire (Orica-GreenEdge) kept the race lead as all the BMC Racing Team’s riders crossed the line from the field, in the same time as stage winner. « If there had been a bigger break with more than 6 guys we would have had somebody in, but we were pretty sure with Fabio (Baldato) that it would finish in a sprint today, » said Sciandri. « Initially we were thinking we might have Blythe playing for the stage win but we focussed all the efforts for Taylor. »
