BMC Racing Team Signs Alberta Stage Winner Dillier

8. September 2013

Silvan Dillier, winner of a stage at the Tour of Alberta, signed a contract with the BMC Racing Team for the 2014 season, President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz announced Sunday.

Call-Up From BMC Development Team
Dillier won Thursday out of a two-man breakaway that lasted 80 kilometers at the Canadian race. It was his fifth victory of the season and his first since signing as a stagiaire with the BMC Racing Team in August. "The BMC Racing Team is one of the biggest teams in the world," Dillier said. "There are so many good riders, and, if you get a chance to join this team as a young rider, it is just amazing. I really look forward to the next few years. With my win here in Canada, I saw that it's possible for me to win races also on the pro level." Racing for the BMC Development Team earlier this year, Dillier won the overall title and best young rider honors at the Tour de Normandie in March, the final stage of Triptyque Ardennais and Cham-Hagendorn in May and Flèche Ardennaise and the elite national road and time trial titles in June. The 23-year-old also has three national Under 23 time trial championships (2010-12) to his credit. BMC Racing Team President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz said the future is bright for the first recruit signed from the BMC Development Team. "Silvan has already deliver his first professional victory this week and the future holds many more for him," Ochowicz said. "He is multi-talented, with a number of skills on both the road and track that he will bring to the team." Specific details and terms of the contract were not revealed.
