BMC Racing Team Has Options For Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian

13. August 2012

Strong morale from recent team success bodes well for the BMC Racing Team for Tuesday's Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian, Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said.

Van Avermaet Riding Well
Greg Van Avermaet, who finished third at this race last year, joined Klaas Lodewyck on the BMC Racing Team squad at the Eneco Tour of Benelux that scored a stage win Sunday, as well as two podium finishes. "Greg should have cards to play," Verbrugghe said. "He has already shown he is able to do something good at this type of race." Though he crashed during Eneco's team time trial, Lodewyck should be OK, Verbrugghe said. This year's course includes two climbs of the Alto De Jaizkibel, considered the hardest climb of the for the 234-kilometer race. "If we still have Van Avermaet in the front group on the last circuit, with teammates like Lodewyck or Mauro Santambrogio, it should be a good thing for us," Verbrugghe said.
