Roger Rinderknecht wins the 2012 World Championships 4X!

1. September 2012

Leogang, Austria

In the last big race of his impressive career, Swiss BMX and four cross rider Roger Rinderknecht cruised to his biggest ever win. On the slopes of Leogang in Austria, Roger, alias RR13, beat Michael Mechura and Thomas Slavik and grabed his first four cross World Champions title.
Roger Rinderknecht joined BMC in 2010. His most important victories up to date: 4 Swiss BMX and 1 European BMX title and 1 Swiss four cross title. He was the runner up at the World Championships on 3 occasions: 2006, 2008 and 2011. RR13 also participated at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. After focussing the biggest part of this season on BMX, Roger left London without the Olympic medal he certainly hoped for. The semi-finals meant the end of his Olympic adventure.
After the games however, he managed to focus and charge his batteries for a final time on a final event: the World Championships 4X in Austria. For sure his form was still great after London, but he didn't know what to expect, how the handling of the bike would be, in what shape the other main contenders would be at the start. "It was just the perfect evening; all single pieces just came together at the right time".
The four cross bike Roger raced on was a masterpiece that was developed by BMC in close collaboration with RR13 himself and a perfect example of the MTB craftsmanship of BMC's R&D team.
