A confident Reto Indergand

15. June 2014

Gränichen, Schweiz - BMC Racing Cup

Lukas Flückiger will have to play the role of the defending champion at the fourth round of the BMC Racing Cup in Graenichen. Whereas teammate Julien Absalon will have the favourable opportunity to take the lead in the overall standings from Moritz Milatz who has fallen ill last weekend. Team youngster Reto Indergand seems to be in great shape.

From Julien Absalon's point of view, the race on Sunday will be a rematch against Fabian Giger whom he had relegated to second place at the European Championships after a thrilling duel. „I don't know if I will still be in top shape on Sunday. If not, I will try to help Lukas, just like I did in 2013," the Frenchman explains his possible role as team player.

However, Lukas Flückiger is somewhat sceptical after having suffered a temporary slow-down at the European Championships. „Currently, I'm having problems turning the pedals in the red range. I'm not sure if things will turn positively by Graenichen. But it would be nice to finish off with a good result before we all take a short break from racing," said the previous year's winner.

Reto Indergand on the other hand will come to Gränichen with lots of self-confidence. He was second in Estevayer-le-Lac last week-end, and he had shown a magnificent World Cup performance in Albstadt a week ago.

At the Elsa Bike Trophy marathon he had to admit defeat only to marathon World Champion Christoph Sauser. „It's not a disgrace to come second in a race against the World Champion," said Indergand after the 60-kilometre-race. Now he hopes to play a major role in the shorter race in Graenichen.
