Wringing extra speed out of your engine isn't always about digging deeper in the pain cave. With the timemachine TMR01, you simply get further down the road than your competition with every pedal stroke. With the TMR01, BMC chose not to just enter the aero road bike category, but redefine it, by creating a road-specific timemachine that combines maximized aerodynamics, integration and stiffness. After extensive wind tunnel testing, the TMR01 earned its wings under the most powerful rouleurs of the professional peloton.

 

The TMR01 is made for sprinters digging for extra watts at the finish line; rouleurs that need to keep the pressure on all day; or Olympic-distance triathletes pushing for a little breathing room from the competition before hitting the final transition.

Concept

Applied aerodynamics: The SubA concept summarizes the aerodynamic advantages: truncated tubes strike a balance between the aerodynamically optimal shape and maximum rigidity. The tripwire technology is a stepped profile running along the leading edge of the frame tubing. The goal is to better control the airflow around the profiles and delay separation of the boundary layer from the tube surface — the same effect is generated by the dimples on a golf ball.

Advanced integration: Uncompromised integration of frame, fork and components dramatically improves aerodynamic performance. The powerful brake calipers are cleanly tucked into the shape of the fork and chain stays, the seatpost is fixed by a hidden clamping mechanism, the battery unit needed for electronic groupsets is integrated into the seat tube, and all other electronic components disappear almost entirely into the frame.

Dual Transmission integration (DTi) allows assembling the same frame with your choice of either electronic or mechanical groupsets without losses in aesthetics or aerodynamics.

Maximized stiffness: Especially for powerful riders like rouleurs or sprinters, power transfer is just as important as aerodynamics. Consequently, the BMC engineers were tasked with challenging stiffness targets when designing this aero road bike. The appropriate use of truncated profiles in the frame design and the use of high modulus carbon fiber result in a frame that is remarkably aero, yet stiff enough to lay down some serious watts when it matters most.

Race-ready: Despite looking illegally fast, the TMR01 is fully UCI compliant and therefore ready to hit any starting line.

Maximum adaptability thanks to the p2p concept.

The best "position to perform" derives from the maximum adjustability using the stem, the handlebar and the saddle position.


Tri Angle Concept -
The Tri Angle Concept allows the stem to be adjusted in 30 different ways.

The principle is as simple as it is brilliant: the variable arrangement of triangular forms and spacers allows both positive and negative degrees to be achieved at any required length of the stem. This option is available ex works and is supplied with every TM01.

The variability enables the rider to set his ideal position. It also allows him to refine and modify the ideal seated position further in the course of the season's preparations without any great effort. All that needs to be done is add, replace or remove tri angle modules.


21_21 offset -
The p2p concept is supplemented by a further feature that enables the saddle position to be adjusted to extreme requirements: 21 mm forward and 21 mm back.

This allows BMC to cover the extreme seated positions for triathlons. The reach of the saddlebar permits four different basic settings, while the whole reach of the bar can also be used to ride extreme positions.

Best aerodynamics - The sub A concept

The aerodynamics of the rider and the bike are influenced both by the position of the rider on the bike and by the aerodynamics of the bike itself.

subA refers to the maximization of the aerodynamics by minimizing the frontal area of the bike. This is generated by three core features:

Tear drop 3:1 - The frame shape is formed aerodynamically in a length to width ratio of 3:1.

Truncated profile - Instead of continuing the surface in a teardrop shape, a straight break-away edge is worked into the profile. The turbulence can be managed and controlled by this. The minimized raw materials also reduce the weight and increase the stiffness of the frame due to the edge.

Tripwire - Tripwire is the "tripwire for the air", originally an achievement from aeronautics: special wind curbs are molded into the carbon frame so that the slightest turbulence is created directly above the surface. A sort of air cushion forms for the wind flow.

For this reason, all our new road frames are compatible with electronic shifting. You want to update to the latest high end technology? No problem with a BMC frame. Even our entry level Granfondo GF02 bike is compatible with Di2.

DTi leaves you total freedom in your choice of groupsets. The one frame is cleverly designed to accept every transmission possibility; electronic or mechanical transmission. That is Dual Transmission integration. You have clean cable routing with mechanical shifting, but if you switch to Di2 no unnecessary cable stops are left, all the holes are in the right place for minimal exposed electronic cables and a clean look.
