Tour of Oman, Stage 4: Van Avermaet Moves Up

18. February 2011

Jabal al Akhdhar, Oman

Greg Van Avermaet finished sixth for the BMC Racing Team in Friday's uphill finish at the Tour of Oman and climbed to sixth in the overall standings.

'Legs Were Good'

Van Avermaet said he tried to find a rhythm on the six-kilometer climb that averaged 10 percent. "I'm not really a climber, but everything went well," he said. "My legs were good and the team worked well to put me in perfect position at the foot of the climb. Hopefully I can do a good time trial tomorrow." Robert Gesink (Rabobank) soloed to win the stage and take the overall lead. Van Avermaet is 69 seconds off the lead heading into the 18 km hilly time trial on the penultimate stage.
