BMC Racing Team’s sprinter Adam Blythe crossed the finish line 15th position after his teammates tried a move to create a split.

Rode Instinctively As A Team
While the last survivor of the five men breakaway was finally caught within two kilometres to go in the 170,7 km stage, Andre Greipel (Lotto Belisol Team) took his second straight stage victory and kept the race overall lead. BMC Racing Team’s Philippe Gilbert explained that the wind has turned during the final 35 km circuit “We had observed on the first pass at the finish line and the wind almost created a split in the break, so in the last kilometres, it came all together in front of the group but the wind had turned”, he said. The plan was to place Adam Blythe for the sprint, he eventually finished for the 15th position. “The good thing is that we didn’t need to speak to move in front, we made it instinctively which is great,” said Gilbert.
