Three Days of De Panne, Stage 2: Bad Luck

30. March 2011

Koksijde, Belgium

Manuel Quinziato and Danilo Wyss were the only two BMC Racing Team riders to make the front group Wednesday at the Three Days of De Panne, while Alessandro Ballan lost time to a flat tire on the wind-swept stage.

Quiniziato Feeling Better

"Ballan is riding out of his mind, but he had a lot of bad luck because when he flatted, we weren't with his group," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Michael Sayers said. With two stages remaining Thursday (112-kilometer road race, 14.7 km time trial), Quinziato and Wyss are among 53 riders within eight seconds of race leader Lieuwe Westra (Vancansoleil-DCM). "I feel better, but obviously I'm not in good shape yet," Quinziato said. "I think I can be optimistic for Sunday and even more for Roubaix. For this reason, tomorrow will be another day of training." Denis Galimzyanov (Katusha) won Wednesday's stage.
