Klaas Lodewyck finished seventh on Sunday's final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under while teammate Ivan Santaromita was the BMC Racing Team's best rider overall in 17th place.

Lodewyck's top 10 placing was his second of the race, adding to his 10th place on Stage 4. André Greipel (Lotto Belisol) took his third stage win Sunday while Tom-Jelte Slagter (Blanco Pro Cycling Team) won the race overall. Lodewyck, the only rider on the BMC Racing Team who had not previously raced in Australia, said he was impressed with the event. "It's pretty hard in ability, but it's nice weather, so I think it's a perfect start for a good season," he said. "If you compare it to Europe where it's all snow right now, I'm happy to be here." In the 20-lap, 90-kilometer finale, Swiss national road champion Martin Kohler was part of a three-man breakaway that enjoyed four laps of freedom. The aggressive strategy by the team was evident throughout the week, Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said. "We worked pretty hard and every day we got stronger," he said. "We showed the guys work well together and Philippe Gilbert did a nice race and will be stronger for his next race and the classics."
