BMC Racing Team Leader Cadel Evans is impressive in the first stage of the Critérium International on Corsica.

In the anything but easy opening stages from Porto Vecchio to the Col de l’Ospedale over 176 km, the Australian was the first of the most frequently cited favorites to cross the finishing line. While Cadel Evans in fourth place lost 15 seconds to the day's winner Pierrick Fedrigo, Alberto Contador was 1 min 12 sec behind the stage winner and seven-time tour winner Lance Armstrong was 4 min 51 sec in arrears. "I don't think they are among the favorites for the overall victory any more. I was keeping a good eye on Sanchez and Horner and those two will certainly deliver a good time trial tomorrow. Of course I hope that I will also one of the riders competing for the overall victory," said the 33-year-old BMC team leader.
