BMC Racing Team Recovery Starts With NormaTec MVP

29. November 2010

Santa Rosa, California

For the BMC Racing Team, recovery from the often tortuous pain of professional cycling begins with NormaTec MVP, a state-of-the-art dynamic compression system that mimics normal physiology.

'Most Valuable Pump'

Brent Bookwalter competed in a number of stage races in 2010, including the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah. Key to his recovery in each of them was lying in bed with his legs in the inflatable sleeves of the NormaTec MVP ("most valuable pump"). "We had a lot of really long transfers at the Giro, so we had two pair of NormaTecs on the bus and I was able to get in them right away," he said. "It really helps flush things out and get the recovery process going."

Improves Circulation
NormaTec MVP mimics normal physiology to help athletes recover rapidly after workouts, injury and surgery. Although static external compression through wraps and compression garments has been used for years, the NormaTec MVP's physiologically-based dynamic compression profoundly improves circulation and alleviates symptoms. "Usually, I'll do at least a 15-minute session with them and not more than 30," Bookwalter said. "It forces you to be static and take a few deep breaths and just rest and relax. That's also a good way to start the recovery."
