BMC Development Team Ready For First Races

21. February 2013

The BMC Development Team gets its season underway Saturday at the Beverbeek Classic in Belgium with one eye on its first major stage race next month.

Training Camps Went Well
The BMC Development Team will be one of 28 teams lining up in the 180.7-kilometer Beverbeek Classic, the traditional opening race of the Belgian season for elite racers. General Manager Rik Verbrugghe said the team's two pre-season camps in Spain went well with the exception of a training ride crash that will delay the start of Tom Bohli's season. "We had good weather and good training and now we're ready to race," he said. "Our first two races will help us get into racing rhythm." The BMC Development Team will also compete March 3 in the one-day Grand Prix de Lillers in France before its first stage race of the season, the Tour de Normandie, a UCI 2.2 race on the European Tour. "This is one of the biggest races for young guys so it's one of our first goals," Verbrugghe said. "More than 75 teams applied and only 24 were accepted so we are pleased to be among the field for what is a very good, high-quality race."
