Ronnie Schildknecht wins the Challenge Walchsee

5. September 2011

Ronnie Schildknecht wins his rehearsal for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii at the beginning of October. During the Challenge in Walchsee, Austria, he displayed a balanced overall performance and relegated his fellow favorite Timo Bracht to second place.
One week after the Zurich athlete won the silver medal at the Swiss national championship over the Olympic distance in Uster, Schildknecht confirmed his budding form during the second outing at the Challenge Walchsee. The five-time Ironman Zurich champion surprisingly laid the foundation stone for the victory during the swim. With a good time of around 24 minutes, he exited the Walchsee lake in third place. On the new timemachine TM01, he then achieved a lead of about two and a half minutes over his fiercest opponent, Timo Bracht, who decided to take part in Austria at short notice. The fastest cycling time of the day gave the athlete from the ewz power team confidence for the final run around the Walchsee. With a very good half marathon, Schildknecht was in the end able to hold off the strong runner Bracht and added another victory to his achievements with a lead of 2 minutes and 40 seconds.
Equipped with the timemachine TM01 from BMC, Schildknecht will depart for the USA in a few days where as usual he will finish preparing for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. The main goal of the athlete from Zurich is still the podium in Kona, and with his fourth place finish in 2008 Schildknecht is confident that he can also overcome this obstacle.
