The BMC racing Team placed two riders in the Top 3 of Tour of Utah Stage 3 and Johann Tschopp was awarded Most Aggressive Rider after he figured in a breakaway during the 138-kilometers stage.
Johann Tschopp Awarded Most Aggressive Rider
The BMC Racing Team was always in the action during the first mountain stage of this edition of the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah. A 8-men breakaway group left including Johann Tschopp for the BMC Racing Team “There were pretty strong riders here, so theguys bunch were chasing extremely hard all day long” describes the BMC Racing Team’s assistant sport director Michael Sayers. The leading group, finally reduced to 5 men never enjoyed more than a maximum gap of 5minutes and at the bottom of the last climb, Tschopp hardened the pace and dropped the other riders in the lead. After he crossed the last KOM of Big Climb, the swiss rider was caught back by the peloton with 5 km to go and was awarded Most Aggressive Rider “He made a really great ride today and I think if they had remained eight guys in the break, he would have had a real chance to win the stage, but we are happy about what he did and we could see he’s in an extremely good condition right now,” said Sayers.

Schär and Brent in the Top 3
While he was part of the breakaway earlier, Michael Matthews (Rabobank Cycling Team) came back in the front at the last hectometers and won the stage as Christian Vande Velde (Garmin - Sharp) kept the race lead. Straight behind the stage winner, Michael Schär and Brent Bookwalter crossed the line in second and third positions respectively “They did an incredible job and came up in the first position on the last corner at about 500m to go” said Sayers. Friday’s stage while be the flattest of the race, with a distance of 215.6km, “All the team riders have less than one minute gap behind the lead in the GC, so we will try to play this next stage easy to save energy for the hardest stages coming up this week end,” explained Sayers.
