Tour de Suisse, Stage 8: Eye On The Time Trial

18. June 2011

Schaffhausen, Switzerland

Mathias Frank aims to keep his spot in the top 10 for the BMC Racing Team when the Tour de Suisse wraps up Sunday with a 32.1-kilometer individual time trial.

Costly Penalty
Frank finished 16th on Saturday's 167 km stage that was won by Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale). In the overall standings, he is ninth, 3:20 behind race leader Damiano Cunego (Lampre-ISD). A 10-second penalty, assessed on Stage 6 for improper mechanical assistance, dropped Frank from seventh place overall. "It's really unfortunate," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said. "Those 10 seconds are a big difference, but two of the riders ahead of Mathias in the standings are not time trial specialists. So hopefully he can take time out of them."
