Tour de Suisse, Stage 8: A Hard Day

19. June 2010

Liestal, Switzerland

With the final 26.9-kilometer individual time trial looming at the Tour de Suisse, it was far from an easy day in the saddle Saturday for Steve Morabito and the BMC Racing Team.

Morabito Motivated For Final

Morabito is best-placed for the BMC Racing Team in third overall, 36 seconds off the lead of Robert Gesink (Rabobank). The Swiss said the 172 km race – won from a breakaway by Rui Da Costa (Caisse d'Epargne) – was hard. "Today was really bad weather at the start and at the end, there were a lot of steep climbs and tricky corners," Morabito said. "The entire team did a good job of keeping me in position and Mathias (Frank) was familiar with the course, so he gave me great information." Frank (sprint, mountains) and Marcus Burghardt (points) retained their leads for the BMC Racing Team in the special classification jerseys.
