Morabito Seventh Overall At Circuit de la Sarthe

Steve Morabito earned a seventh place finish overall for the BMC Racing Team Friday at the Circuit de la Sarthe, helped by solid teamwork on the final 171 kilometer stage.

Tried Attack On Final Climb

The BMC Racing Team worked hard when a breakaway threatened to dislodge Morabito’s spot in the top 10. The chasing efforts of Brent Bookwalter, Jeff Louder, Alex Moos and Florian Stalder caught the escapees with two laps to go on the finish circuit. Morabito then tried to gain back some of the 28 seconds he would finish behind winner Luis Leon Sanchez (Caisse d'Epargne). “In the last climb, I attacked and the leaders lost a few meters,” Morabito said. “But the climb was not long enough for me to take a decisive advantage. This was a good test for the Tour de Romandie. I had really good legs and a well-organized team around me.”
