Mass sprint at “3 Days of West Flanders”

Mass sprint on the first stage of the “Three Days of West Flanders” in Belgium drew a blank for BMC.

The first stage of "Three Days of West Flanders" from Kortrijk to Bellegem ended after 183.5 km in a mass sprint. “The home straight has a slight upward incline, which is why we tried to get Martin Kohler into a good position, as he would come into his own here. This did not entirely work out and we did not get the top place. We are going to analyze precisely what happened this evening," said sporting director René Savary. Chad Beyer had bad luck; he fell during the race into a water-filled ditch. “Luckily he wasn’t hurt. At least he still reached the finishing line,” said Savary. The final sprint was won as at "Le Samyn" by Jens Keukeleire of Cofidis.
