Louder Dons Best Utah Rider Jersey

11. August 2011

Provo, Utah

BMC Racing Team's Jeff Louder unexpectedly claimed the Miller Lite Best Utah Rider jersey Thursday at the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah after previous classification leader Tyler Wren (Jamis-Sutter Home) was caught up in a crash and lost time.

Time Trial Friday

Louder also scored his best result of the season with sixth place in the bunch sprint won by Jack Bauer (Endura Racing) after 159.6 kilometers. "I'm happy with my finish, but I didn't want to take the jersey like that," Louder said. The Salt Lake City resident is 14th overall, 2:59 behind race leader Sergio Henao (Gobernacion de Antioguia-Indeportes Antiquia) heading into Friday night's 15.6 kilometer individual time trial at Miller Motrosports Park. "It's a big weekend because there are three days where there is going to be a lot of movement," Louder said. "Each day is difficult in three different ways and tomorrow kind of kicks that off. In the time trial, I hope to give my best effort and see where it puts me." Assistant Director Michael Sayers called it an "uneventful day" with no BMC Racing Team riders involved in any crashes. "For once, we came out ahead; it usually doesn't turn out that way," he said.
