Cesenatico, Italy

In the 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia from Porto Ricanti to Cesenatico on Friday, Danilo Wyss of the BMC Racing Team was in the leading pack for 160 km. The 24-year-old Swiss native finished the stage in 13th place.

Looking forward to a day off after today's exhausting race
62 kilometers into today's race, a group of 17 cyclists, including Danilo Wyss, formed at the front. This leading pack held for the entire 222 km stage, finishing at Cesenatico, the birthplace of "Il Pirata", Marco Pantani. The final hundred meters were decisive and Manuel Beletti (Colnago) was able to sprint to victory. Danilo Wyss finished five seconds later in 13th place. "It was really good to be out in front. Just about every team was represented. The stage was long and really difficult," said the Swiss cyclist. He is competing in his first Giro: "I'm a bit tired and am looking forward to the day off, but of course I've got my sights set on Verona." He considers BMC Racing Team Captain Cadel Evans to be in very strong form. "I think he'll be able to pick up some time in the coming stages for the overall rating. He's really been doing a great job so far." The world champion finished that stage with the main field.
