Flu forces BMC's Jeff Louder off Worlds team

23. September 2009

Santa Rosa / Salt Lake City / Mendrisio

BMC regretfully announces that Jeff Louder is suffering from an illness which has cautiously been diagnosed as the H1N1 flu virus.  He consequently will have to give up his spot on the US Worlds team.

"I haven't been feeling well and saw Dr. Testa Monday. Based on my condition and symptoms he diagnosed H1N1 and advised against training, racing and travelling," Louder explained.  "This pretty much puts an end to my season. I am not on my death bed but am definitely not in a way that would do the race, myself or the team any good. I'm pretty bummed. All I can do is recover and rest for next season I guess."  Having shown such strong results in recent races, Louder would have been a valuable member of the US contingency.  However, he can take solace in a very successful season where he won the Redlands Bicycle Classic, took third place at the Tour of Utah, and scored numerous top ten overall results in American and European stage races.
