Evans Returns To France For Criterium International

23. March 2012

Cadel Evans will compete in France for the first time since winning the Tour de France when the BMC Racing Team begins the two-day, three-stage Criterium International Saturday.

Stage 2 Time Trial
Evans said his return to France stirs memories of his Tour victory last year. "Coming back to France has another significance now, but I still have another Tour to do and Criterium International is another step towards that," he said. "It's usually a short, intense stage race. Of course the individual time trial and the hilltop finish will be important for GC." Saturday morning's road race is 89.5 kilometers, followed by a 6.5 km individual time trial in the afternoon. Sunday's 179 km road race is one that should suit both Evans and teammate Marco Pinotti, BMC Racing Team Director Max Sciandri said. "Marco is starting to really come around and he knows this race well," he said. "He's also going to test himself in the time trial."
