Eneco Tour, Stage 7: Quinziato Fourth

18. August 2013

BMC Racing Team's Manuel Quinziato registered his best finish since 2010 with fourth place on the final stage of the Eneco Tour of Benelux after teammate Daniel Oss figured in a small chase group late in the 208-kilometer race.

Proud Performance
Quinziato said he and the rest of the BMC Racing Team were motivated to get a solid result after a crash on Saturday's stage knocked world road champion Philippe Gilbert and Taylor Phinney out of the race. "The five guys left here really wanted to try to win the stage," he said. "We did everything we could and Daniel did a nice job We tried so we can be happy with that." With 30 km to go, Oss attacked out of the peloton and began a chase of breakaway group that had splintered. "Without Philippe and Taylor, we had to do something," Oss said. "I tried for the team and for myself and for my teammates. It was also good for Manuel. He was able to stay safe and quiet and prepare for the sprint." Oss and his group were caught before the climb to the finish of the Kapelmuur, where Quinziato sprinted to his best individual result since another fourth-place finish on Stage 7 of the 2010 Tour de Suisse. BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said he happy with the display of a never-give-up-attitude. "We saw the team fighting today," he said. "Yesterday we lost everything. Today, I am proud of what the riders did."
