BMC Racing Team Versatile For Tour de Wallonie

20. July 2011

Amay, Belgium

The BMC Racing Team will field a versatile roster for the Tour de Wallonie, a five-day Belgian stage race that begins Saturday.

A Favorite For Van Avermaet

Two uphill finishes are followed by stages expected to finish in bunch sprints before a final circuit race that features three ascents of the Mur de Thuin, a 400-meter cobblestoned climb. "It's not an easy race," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said. "But we have a really strong team and a lot of these riders will do the Vuelta so they want to show they'll be ready for it." Greg Van Avermaet, second overall at this race in 2008, said the race is one of his favorites. "It has some nice hard stages and some small uphill finishes, which is what I like the most," he said. "I think we have a good team on the start line and can build on some of the good performances we had in Austria."
