BMC Racing Team Sends 12 To World Championships

17. September 2012

Twelve riders from the BMC Racing Team will be competing in this week's world road championships in Valkenburg, The Netherlands.

Road Race and Time Trial Participants
BMC Racing Team riders participating in the 261-kilometer road race Sunday are: Brent Bookwalter (USA), Marcus Burghardt (GER), Steve Cummings (GBR), Mathias Frank (SUI), Philippe Gilbert (BEL), Steve Morabito (SUI), Taylor Phinney (USA), Michael Schär (SUI), Greg Van Avermaet (BEL) and Tejay van Garderen (USA). Marco Pinotti (ITA), Phinney and van Garderen will also represent their countries in the 46.2 km time trial on Wednesday. Larry Warbasse, a stagiaire for the BMC Racing Team, will compete in both the Under 23 time trial (today) and the Under 23 road race (Saturday). President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz said the silver medal the BMC Racing Team earned in the team time trial was a reflection of how important the riders and staff take the championships that award a prestigious rainbow jersey to the winner. "They're all still motivated late in the season," Ochowicz said. "The worlds is a big event. The team time trial was something we worked awfully hard to prepare for. Now we're looking forward to the individual time trial and the road race for even more success."
