Bode Miller
Bode Miller is an American ski racer. Besides numerous victories in the world cup and the overall victory in the world cup, Miller won also countless international championships. The exceptional athlete lives in Franconia (New Hampshire/USA) and Innsbruck (A). Miller rides a Superstroke, using it as an all-round bike.
Bode Miller besides many other races, you have also won the famous race at the Lauberhorn, which as generally known is the longest downhill race in the world. This race demands enormous power. How can you achieve this power in your legs?
It’s hard training and a clever graduation of the power on the track. You have to graduate your power very smart on this track. Begin easy and give all you have in the final.
Since last fall you are riding a BMC Mountainbike. What is the application range of it?
My training is also very varied during the world cup winter. The Superstroke? is anyway an ideal completion. But I do not need it only for the training. I also need it for short transfers at the race sites: going to restaurants, to press conferences and so on. Also Jake, my driver, and Chance, my cousin, need their Superstrokes every day and are exited.
You leave your bikes in front of the restaurant?
Yes and not only in front of the restaurant. Also in front of our camper, where our bikes stay if they are not just in use. But of course, we chain them up. The interest for the bike is really considerable…
In what extend biking is ideal for a ski downhiller?
Of course for the power in the legs and for warm up before the race. But also for going for a drive: after such a hard downhill like you have in Wengen, virtually every athlete goes out for a drive of 45 to 90 minutes to eliminate different substances of the body, which are accumulated during the enormous effort. Furthermore, biking is very good for the fine motor skills, the balance and the endurance. And most of all, it’s great fun.
Since a few month, you use regularly the Superstroke. What do you think of this bike?
Useful, functional, fun – just great!
