Tough luck for BMC biker Moritz Milatz: He narrowly missed victory at the 30. Roc d'Azur in Southern France. In a tight sprint decision Milatz was obstructed by eventual race winner Miguel Martinez and had to reconcile himself with second place.

Moritz Milatz showed a strong performance in his last race of the season. Together with the two Frenchmen Stephane Tempier and Miguel Martinez, Milatz established the lead group and later, on the last ten kilometers, he accompanied the Olympic champion of the year 2000towards the finish.
„My legs were awesome today. They were so good that I should have won the race," said Milatz. The German Champion accordingly expressed his disappointment about second place.
„On our way to the finish area we had agreed that we would fight for victory in a fair sprint. But on the finishing straight he left his line and closed the door on me. That was beyond the limits of fair play," commented Milatz.
He was also upset about the fact that they had to share the final ten kilometers of the course with amateurs from a different race. „That's not worthy of such an event," criticized Milatz.
Right before Milatz will go on his well-deserved vacation, this leaves him with the unrewarding fact that he has shown a strong performance without gaining the laurels.
Reto Indergand was twelth, thus winning the U23 classification. „I love this kind of race and I feel really happy about my result,"explained Indergand.

Stephen Ettinger was also glad about 15th place. „I was somewhat ill and after Friday's marathon race I was a little bit tired, but I have recovered quite well," said the U.S. champ.

Martin Fanger did his third race in only eight days and showed a lack of vigour . „The period for regeneration was just too short," admitted Fanger.

Team manager Alexandre Moos drew a positive conclusion. „I am very happy about our results. A victory won by Moritz would have been the icing on the cake, but I'm proud of our guys anyway. "
