European Champion Moritz Milatz took another win for the BMC mountainbike racing team. On Easter Monday he won the Bundesliga opener in Bad Säckingen, Germany. Three BMC riders were ranked in the top six.

Moritz Milatz didn't have a good start. He slipped out on the asphalt, when the starting signal was given. So the German missed the contact to the four leading riders. Milatz lost around 30 seconds, but started a strong comeback immediately.
The first lap time showed only 18 seconds difference and after three laps he reached the leading group with Emil Lindgren (Swe), Markus Schulte-Lünzum (Ger) and Nicola Rohrbach (Sui).

After the race Milatz stated that "the speed was too slow at that moment and when I was in the lead, I realized, that I had gained a gap. Normally, I would wait with my attack until the last lap, but on this tricky course, riding in a group is no advantage".
The European XCO Champion continued on his own pace and didn't get in danger anymore. "I think, I have worked through the winter in a solid way. In training you cannot judge, how good your shape really is. It seems that I am on schedule. Of course, it's a super motivation to win already your first race", Milatz commented.

His teammates also experienced a good day in South West Germany. Swiss U23 Champ Matthias Stirnemann also missed his start. "I was on the wrong line and missed the leading group. That was a pity. At the end, it was very close to the top three. But compared to the last year, I am really happy with my start into the season, I feel great on the new bike", the Stirnemann said, after reaching the finish line 3 seconds away from a podium spot.
Martin Fanger (Sui) can in sixth (+1:18). With Stephen Ettinger (USA) on place 11 (+2:38) and Reto Indergand (Sui) as 16th position (+3:46), the BMC MTB Racing Team showed that is ready for the new season.
