Double win in Tesserete

6. April 2014

BMC Racing Cup, Lugano/Tesserete

Julien Absalon celebrated his first BMC Racing-Cup victory since wearing the BMC jersey. And he won the race in style - leading the race from lap two onwards thanks to great teamwork.

Ralph Naef put the hammer down for Absalon in the second lap, splitting the eight-man lead group. Naef unfortunately had a flat coming out of the descent allowing Moritz Milatz to move into second position. The German champion secured second place behind Absalon whose ride was flawless. Milatz managed to hold off all the chasers and secured a double win for the team.

Absalon commented on his victory: „Of course it's superb to win this race just one week prior to the World Cup. I was feeling very good, but I have to admit that Moritz was also really strong."

Milatz was very happy about this great race day in Ticino, too. „This week I had already noticed that things were going better every day. Today I tried to stay on the safe side to avoid any mechanicals. That worked out pretty well."

After his handicap, Ralph Naef rode at his „own rhythm", powering forward into fourth position. He was extremely satisfied. „I never thought that I could do so well. It's nice to be able to race up front again", said Naef.

Reto Indergand was fifth for quite a long time, but on the penultimate lap he suffered from cramps and had to get off his bike to release the tension in his legs.
