BMC Mountainbike Racing Team: Title for Milatz - Win for Moos

18. September 2011

St. Ingbert, Germany & Lo Forestrière, France

BMC Mountainbike Racing Team is on a late-season roll. It is harvesting season not only for farmers: Two wins and a second place in three races filled the barn of BMC's professional off-road team. Moritz Milatz won the national marathon title in Germany. Alexandre Moos dominated the marathon race "La Forestrière" in France.

Favored color combination: black-red-gold

Black, red, and golden is a color combination that suits Moritz Milatz very well. And Milatz seems to like also, since he keeps fighting hard for it. For the second time in 3 months, the Freiburg- resident won the black-red-golden German Champion jersey this weekend at the national marathon championship in St. Ingbert. In June, he won the national cross country championship in Albstadt, defending his title from the previous year.

Milatz dominant

His original game plan was simple: to test the competition during the first half of the rain-soaked race in St. Ingbert. However, "when I noticed that the others could not follow on the ascents and on the descent in particular, I pushed on the gas pedal", explained the new German MTB marathon Champion his flexible tactics. He arrived at the finish 3 minutes ahead of his rivals with a winning time of 4:12:07 hrs.. Well-established marathon rider Karl Platt (Team Bulls) finished second, Hannes Genze (Multivan Merida) third.

Moos 12 minutes ahead

The weather was the same a few hundred kilometres South in France. Rain and cold put the riders to a test of sturdiness. BMC's Valais-native Alexandre Moos easily passed the test. After having sustained 7 hours in rain, wind, and snow at the Swiss Marathon Championship a few weeks ago, he was acclimatized enough to dominate the competition. He won the UCI-ranked race 12 minutes ahead of Frenchman Thomas Dietsch.

Tamararcaz second

Julien Tamararcaz rode onto the podium at the Open Bike de Gruyère in Switzerland.
