Tour of Belgium, Stage 4: Two In Top 20

26. May 2012

Manuel Quinziato was 13th and Philippe Gilbert finished 17th for the BMC Racing Team in Saturday's individual time trial at the Tour of Belgium.

Flat Course Not Favorable
The results in the 20.5 kilometer race against the clock moved Quinziato and Gilbert into the same positions in the overall standings, which Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) leads after winning the stage. Gilbert said he knew after performing reconnaissance that the course would not favor him. "It was very flat and I'm a rider who always has difficulty on this kind of parcours," he said. "There was a rider in front of me and my motivation was to catch him, so I earned some seconds. But it was not enough. As it was not the kind of course that favors me, I can't say if I rode well or not." BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said Quinziato, Gilbert and Amaël Moinard (22nd place) rode respectively on the race's penultimate day. "Tomorrow, it's a hilly stage around Liège where we will try to go on the offensive," Lelangue said.
